Star Rating For Student Flats
A new "Star Rating" scheme has been developed to try and combat the well known poor condition, cold and damp student flats within the city, and improve the standard of student accommodation overall. This scheme has been developed by the Dunedin City Council, the University and the Otago Polytechnic.
The scheme is voluntary and landlords can log onto the website to register their rental properties. Rental properties will then be given a star rating from 1 to 5. This is based on the landlord’s responses to the online questionnaire form that they fill in.
Questionnaire responses are asked for things like:
- Fire safety
- Heating
- Ventilation
- Security
- Amenities
